1989 Leavers Reunion 19th September
On the 19th September 55 Old Amplefordians met up for a Reunion at the Queen's Club in London, some for the first time since leaving Ampleforth in 1989. The evening commenced with Mass at our Lady of Victories followed by drinks and a 3 course dinner in the President's Room at the Queen's Club. Everyone sat in tables arranged by Houses and during the evening Paul Kassapian (H89), Fr Dominic Milroy (W50) and Lawrence Dallaglio (T89) made speeches.
From Paul Kassapian's speech :'In so many ways, Ampleforth provided us a frame work for life and living. It was so much more than an education in the short time we were actually there and this is manifested in the depths of the friendships and relationships that must exist between every year group of old Amplefordians.' Paul also revealed the answers to 2 quizzes each attendee had been given at the start of the evening, entitled 'The world in 1989' and 'Ampleforth in 1989'.
The huge turnout and success of the evening was due to the tireless efforts of the Steering Group which consisted of Paul Kassapian (H89), Johnny Lester (A89), Rob Sturges (O89), James Simpson (D89), Pete Goslett (W89), Alistair Boyle (H89), James Smallman (B89), Mark Byrne (A89) and David Casado (A89).
