Ampleforth Stage Group Trip to Lourdes...
The 31st Ampleforth Stage Group to Lourdes since
1985 took place from 1 to 11 July 2011, helping with the work of service in
Lourdes with the Hospitality de
Notre-Dame de Lourdes. There were 20
in the group. These included 7 boys and
7 Old Amplefordians. There were 11 doing
a First Stage, two doing a second stage, and seven Hospitaliers. Just after the departure of the Group, Hew
Williams (W/EW04) made his Engagement or Commitment as a Hospitalier at the
Hospitalite Mass on 13 July 2011. The group worked at the station, the airport,
in the ceremonies of Lourdes, in the Baths, and took part in the Hospitality
programme of Formation. Julien Horn (J96) and Killian Sinnott (J99) produced
a t-shirt for the Stage Group, numbered (rather like England cricket jerseys)
from the beginning in 1985 – and this was presented and introduced at the Stage
Group Dinner hosted by John Morton (C55).
This 31st Stage Group consisted of: Angus Baker (C10),
Fr Luke Beckett, Alistair Duncan, Angus
Duncan (T11), Michael Hardy (O11),
Julien Horn (J96), Francis Maddan (T11), John Morton (C55), Julian Muller (H05),
Charlie Oxlade (H11), Michael Oxlade, Matthew Sanderson [a seminarian from the
Leeds Diocese], Killian Sinnott (J99), William Stubbs (T11), Michael Tomlin, Benedict
Treloar, Nathan Too (J), Gavin Williams
(W/EW04), Hew Williams (EW07) and Fr Francis Dobson (D57).
In addition, there was the June Ampleforth Group, completing its 8th year in June 2011 since its founding by John Dick (O77) and Fiona Dick in 2004.
