...OA selling bespoke handmade games tables...

Richard-Fawcett-games-tables.JPG

About 12 years ago Richard Fawcett (C84) designed and made a prototype tray top games table (pictured). He has more recently set about creating a run of these tables with a durable polyurethane finish and using several different woods: oak, ash, American cherry and sapele mahogany.

There is a small batch of eight of these tray topped games tables. Richard writes: "They are coffee tables with tops that are trays. The trays are similar to the old butlers’ trays, and dare I mention it, also well suited for the more mundane TV dinners! They also make a good writing surface when placed on the arms of certain arm chairs."

The trays have a marquetry chess or draughts board on the reverse side and are shaped to resemble a rook or castle when playing chess, this shaping enables it to be picked up easily when on a flat surface when used as a tray. Each board has different combinations of veneers. They are for sale for £685 each.
