OA dies aged 102
At 102 years old Canon Reginald Fuller was our oldest Old Boy. Diocesan priest and Canon of Westminster, he died at Nazareth House, North London on Thursday 21st April. Canon Fuller played a very significant part in the revival of Catholic biblical studies in England and taught the Old Testament at St Edmund’s, Ware between 1936 and1949.
The decision was made in 1940 to found a Catholic Biblical Association with Cuthbert Lattey as Chairman. Reggie was secretary of the association between 1948 and 1965 and chairman 1968-1982. He spent 1965 to 1968 teaching at the newly founded Catholic University of East Africa in Nairobi. He was also Editor of The New Catholic Commentary on Holy Scripture.
