OA Dinner in Santiago
An Old Amplefordian Dinner was held in Santiago, Chile on Friday 25 November 2011. Those attending were (as in the photograph from left to right): Anthony Dore (A87), Chris Dobson (C03), Patrick Blumer (A84), Fr Francis Dobson (D57), Simon Hulme (D95) and Jonathan Perry (C84). Five of these are members of the Manquehue Apostolic Movement in Chile, a Benedictine lay movement much linked with Ampleforth. Four of these are Oblates of the Movemernt, having taken promises in the Movement: Jonathan Perry is Secretario General of the Movement, Patrick Blumer is Head of Pastoral Development and works at San Anselmo School, Anthony Dore works in Tutoria at San Benito School, Simon Hulme works in Tutoria at San Lorenzo School. In addition, Chris Dobson works in Tutoria at San Benito School. Fr Francis was visiting the Movement from Ampleforth. The Dinner was held at the invitation of Patrick and Gigi Blumer at their house, and it ended with sung Compline in the family chapel. Another Ampleforth working with the Movement is James Moroney (B/O07), but he was at the retreat house St Jose of the Movement in Patagonia, a long way to the South.
