Bernadette Brenninkmeiyer (B10) is supporting the building of schools in India, through a charity called Freedom through Education - linked to Round Table India. She has invited Ampleforth and Face-Faw to assist. Bernadette is at university in Holland, where she is helping with this project. She writes: “I am in a little group with four charming young university colleagues, and we have the grand plan of doing a charity fundraiser dinner with an art exhibition and an auction afterwards” . This event is being held in Amsterdam on 1 December 2011. An Austrian artist Sabine Wiedenhofer, the godmother of Bernadette, is supporting the project with 15 paintings to be sold – and there was to be an auction with items such as car racing training, a three-day trip to the Olympic Games and a weekend trip to Vienna. When she wrote to St Bede’s House on 4 November 2011, she was just off to India: “In a couple of hours, I will be off to India myself, to open the schools which were built with the money the year above raised last year [the previous group at university]”
